GayLatino supports national workshop and launch of “MSMIT” in Brazil

The GayLatino network, in partnership with Brazilian organizations such as the National LGBTI Alliance and Grupo Dignidade, carries out the national workshop and launch of the International Manual “Implementing Comprehensive HIV and STI Programmes with Gay Men and Other MSM” in the city of Curitiba, the 25 and 26 of September.

The workshop gathers more than 30 leaders and experts, selected from different regions of Brazil and committed to implement the knowledge acquired with their local communities. Participants will also receive printed copies of the Implementing Tool better known as “the MSMIT”.

The MSMIT was produced in 2015 by the United Nations Population Fund, the Global Forum on MSM & HIV (MSMGF), the United Nations Development Program, the World Health Organization, the United States Agency for International Development and the World Bank. Thanks to GayLatino, the Portuguese version of the MSMIT was printed and is also available:

This workshop will be facilitated by Dr. Rafael Mazin, an independent consultant who comes especially from Washington. Dr. Rafael is a renowned specialist in prevention, treatment and comprehensive care for HIV and STIs, as well as an expert in sexual health promotion, with more than 35 years of experience in these fields, mainly with the World Health Organization / Pan American Health Organization, involving different populations, groups and collectives.

The network’s President and Executive Secretary, Esteban Paulón of Argentina and Simón Cazal of Paraguay, respectively, will also attend this event.

The workshop also has the support of the Department of Control and Prevention of STIs, HIV / AIDS and Viral Hepatitis of the Brazilian Ministry of Health; of the Secretary of State of Health of Paraná; of the Municipal Health Secretariat of Curitiba; as well as other local non-governmental organizations, including the Brazilian Institute of Sexual Diversity.

The workshop is being held in Curitiba on September 25 and 26, 2017, on the eve of the 11th HIV / AIDS Congress and the 4th Viral Hepatitis Congress, which will also be held in Curitiba.
